Other reviewers fault this book’s age/lack of relevance to newer ipods. My criticism is that it’s too shallow. It addresses only minor issues and repairs. Had it been more in-depth and broader in its coverage, it would have rated better.

While this book did answer fundamental questions on how to open a case and addressed some basic DON’T DOs that would generally apply to all electronics, it covered through 5th Generation models and is outdated for the more current 6th and 7th Generation. Nothing wrong with the book in and of it’s self. It just needs to be updated to what is being sold and used presently.
I would add that in describing how to open a case, it kind of flips through an operation that can easily scratch or break a case and seemed to me to lack an adequate discussion on what happens and why, possible indications to be concerned about and what it means if such and such is encountered.
