First, the title is a bit of a misnomer since even experienced developers – as well as “dummies” – will find the book helpful. In particular, if you’re familiar with “heavyweight” languages such as Java or C++ there can be a bit of a learning curve involved in transitioning to an HTML/JavaScript/jQuery-based approach, but “jQuery for Dummies” makes it easy to get up and running quickly.
That said, the material is presented in a straightforward manner that makes this book a good choice for programming neophytes, too. The step-by-step breakdown of the examples allows novices to get the help they need (e.g., how to set up basic web pages), while more tech-savvy readers can easily skip ahead to the “meat” of the jQuery code samples (e.g., selecting and manipulating elements of your web page).
